Poster Collection
The Split City Museum’s Poster Collection comprises more than 5,000 items. Originally started at the City Library, it has grown over time through acquisitions and donations, a practice that continues to this day. The collection offers an insightful record of Split’s social life from the mid-19th century onwards, covering the openings of institutions, announcements of art exhibitions, theatre performances, concerts, sporting events, and film screenings.
The collection’s most significant artistic works include those by Radovan Tommaseo for the Split Spa, Boris Bućan for the Croatian National Theatre, and Jozo Kljaković for the Sokol Movement Rally in the Adriatic. Other items are primarily of historical and documentary importance, including wartime and political propaganda from World War II, as well as posters relating to the founding of the Republic of Croatia.
