Restoration Workshop for Ceramics, Metal and Glass
The Restoration Workshop for Ceramics, Metal, and Glass has, to date, concentrated on preventive conservation and the restoration of museum objects (including weapons, decorative and utilitarian metalwork, coins, medals, orders, metal fashion accessories, ceramics, porcelain, and other artefacts).
The workshop has, from time to time, engaged and overseen external specialists in the processing of archaeological material from city sites managed or led by the Split City Museum (such as Manuš, Hrvojeva Street – Andrić House, Alješijeva Street, and the Golden Gate). Funding for this work was provided through contracts for archaeological research.
Most of the work focuses on conservation and restoration of objects intended for exhibition, whether for the permanent display or temporary exhibitions. Preservation of the remainder of the collection is carried out according to planned programmes, with priorities determined by the condition of the items.
