Restoration Workshop for Stone Sculpture

The Restoration Workshop for Stone Sculpture is situated on the ground floor of the main building of the Split City Museum. It is responsible for the conservation and restoration of movable stone monuments from the museum’s collection, both for exhibition purposes and as part of the regular maintenance of stone artefacts. In addition to work on movable stone sculpture, the workshop also undertakes conservation and restoration of the architectural stone sculpture of the building itself, which is a protected cultural monument.

The workshop is equipped with machinery for mechanical stone cleaning, a conservation micro-sandblasting unit, a high-pressure water-cleaning system, and a range of hand tools for manual stone cleaning.

In addition to carrying out conservation and restoration work on stone monuments, the Workshop contributes to the preparation of museum exhibitions, including exhibition design and the production of various museographic aids.
